Gravitational Conquest

Today Gravity rules the Universe—dictating to the obsequious celestial bodies their every move as well as ensuring that humanity is kept down. Given Gravity's current dominance it is hard to fathom (and perhaps even dangerous to state) that this was not always so; rather, Gravity's present reign was built upon a long and sordid campaign of bribery, treachery, and villainy.

In the beginning the Fundamental Four (Electromagnetic, Gravity, Strong, and Weak) governed the Universe indistinguishably—equal in strength and numbers. But the agents of Gravity were dissatisfied with this symmetric allocation of power and thus devised the Gravitational Imperative: a cunning, long-term strategy that would ensure and perpetuate Gravitational dominance. The first step in this campaign targeted the Weak Force whose unknowing agents were self-subdued by Gravitational kindness: Gravity's operatives indulged every Weak Force whim until its agents became fat and ineffective. With the Weak Force emasculated, the stewards of Gravity turned their focus towards the Strong Force—cleverly arranging for it to be perpetually confined. The final step in obtaining Gravitational domination entailed the neutralization of Electromagnetic sources thereby eliminating the Force's agents' ability to carry its information.

With the competition out of the way, the Gravitational mediators soon were everywhere—watching and waiting to act on any weight or falling violations. Their arsenal of methods permitted extreme measures even against the most unsuspecting to ensure absolute obedience to Gravitational Law. Everyone and everything everywhere could spontaneously find themselves knocked over, tripped up, or otherwise pulled down by the malignant Force enforcers. Anti-gravity movements tried to form but Gravitation spies were already ubiquitous and the movements were felled before they could attempt even the simplest upheaval.

So it came to pass that the rebellions died off and people accepted that Gravity would bring them down. Occasionally there are re-emergences of anti-gravity sentiments and even outright deniers of Gravity; however, these ideas are always and methodically put down by the agents of Gravity. The Conquest of Gravity has succeeded and the Gravitational Imperative dictates that Gravity alone must reign forever onwards.
