The Great Vivazdi

In the latter half of the twentieth century, a man made a series of predictions that went wholly unnoticed at the time. Seven years later, as this same man (now employed as a telephone sanitizer) was strolling down the street on his way to disinfect his next phone, he came upon a group of people discussing the latest world events. Intrigued by the fact that other people were actually talking in his presence, he listened intently to the conversation and discovered—before being told to piss-off—that, astonishingly, all his predictions had come true. Without a thought he rushed off—in part, to get home and write a detailed letter to a well-reputed, highly successful skeptic of the paranormal; but mostly to escape the approaching policeman who had been signaled by the others.

The letter read as follows:

Dear Jacques Randé,

I realize that you must receive a tremendous number of letters just like this everyday—by fakes and charlatans making outlandish claims that can not be supported, but I assure you my power is frighteningly real and I am only just beginning to understand its full potential.

I have recently discovered that I can predict the future, despite not willfully attempting to do so. You see, six or so years ago I made some statements about what would happen in the world (which I unfortunately neglected to write down) and everyone pretty much ignored them; yet this very day I was dumbfounded to find out that they have happened! While I was walking down the street, I overheard a group of strangers discussing things that were the exact scenarios I described, so I rushed off and immediately called the people I told my predictions to. None of them could remember anything about it, BUT, once I told them the events and explained that I had foreseen it, they all recalled my making those EXACT claims.

To further demonstrate my talent, I predicted, to each one of them, where they were when I called them, what they were doing, and several objects that were around them... and I got them ALL right! My friends were totally flabbergasted at my success and were all excited to know that they were acquainted with a psychic. I, however, am most terrified about these abilities and what shall result because of them.

So, I implore you: please listen to my story, believe it, and help me help the world.

Yours Truly,
The [Newly Self-Appointed] Great Vivazdi

Of course, immediately after receiving the correspondence, Jacques Randé attempted to contact The Great Vivazdi—only to discover that he had died from a malfunctioning nail clipper shortly after mailing the letter. It was at this point that Mr. Randé became fascinated by the man and wrote several books on him. The most popular, by far, is titled "The Collected Prophecies of the Great Vivazdi (or how I went from Skeptic to Believer)"; several excerpts of which are below:

From the Forward

You'll find my interest in this man began after I had discovered he had posthumously predicted his own death: quite a feat indeed! You see, I received a letter detailing his fear of his future and lept from the chair to contact him right then. Of course, you all know what happened: he was dead, but I held in my hands his very words saying that that would be so!

From the chapter titled "On People and Person"

"You will die a horrible and excruciating death"
This particular prophecy is both stunning and marvelous for its clarity and accuracy—though, unfortunately, no one knows precisely at whom the 'you' of that statement is directed. This is because he was speaking to an audience of at least 20 people at the time and had his back to them when he said it; however, Vivazdi clearly meant Sangee Lebeaux—who was slowly pecked to death by birds after falling down a cliff and being pinned by a large rock. While Lebeaux wasn't actually at the gathering, his friend was, and so it's completely reasonable and logical to assume Vivazdi was reading an energy echo.

From the chapter titled "Of Cosmic Significance"

"The Universe will be hit with a giant meteorite and blow up as a result"
Many people mock this prophecy pointing out that by definition the universe can not be hit by a meteorite—yet when doing so they fail to realize that at the time of writing the only thing known to man was the Earth. So, when Vivazdi states 'Universe', it is evident he means in the context of 'that which is known' and is therefore referring to the Earth itself. With that understanding it becomes horrifyingly clear that The Great Vivazdi is stating that some large extraterrestrial object will impact our planet and remain big enough after atmospheric burning to cause catastrophic damage. This is a terribly frightening prediction of our fate.

From the chapter titled "Cross Examination"

"If tested, I will pass—therefore there is no need for a test, as I have already told you the outcome"
